What is good computer especially for GW and GW2 to upgrade to.I currently have a 1.5 P4 with 512 MB of ram and a 200 watt power supply.I have an ati 9550 agp video card that is slowly going and thought it was time to upgrade.

What are some of your suggestions?I live in Canada so I want it under $1000 please keep it is in relative to $Cdn dollars.Thanks

Do you want to build your own or go with one pre assembled by manufacturers? With 1K CAD you can pretty much get a mid-high ranged machine/

Building a computer is much cheaper than getting a pre-assembled one btw. So i suggest you do that, with some help of a few tutorials or something. This is a really helpful one.

I would do that build it myself if I had taken an old one apart and put it back together again.Then I would see if it works.

Yeah i only advise building a PC if you've had experience with PC's. Tutorials online wouldn't really be enough, and it can sometimes get a little confusing for the most knowledgeable of us at times.

99% of the time you won't save too much money with a pre asembeld machine compared to building one yourself if they have the same specs; (espically if they aren't famous overpriced brands) i was planning to build my desktop myself however i found a prebuilt one, exactly what i wanted for around the same, and as it saved the effort of building it, i went for it, glad too.

The only real advantage of building one yourself is the fact that each peice will be warrenteed sperately, leaving you to mess around with the insides without breaking the warrenty.

I suggest you buy a pre made one, and if needs be buy some more RAM etc. You can buy a pretty decent machine, with $1,000, and in the future, when you've learnt some more about the insides you can upgrade some components.

Cheapest, most bang-for-the buck, would be to try to buy a pre-made system without a monitor or OS.

Second choice would be to get a "bare-bones" system and add a hard drive and video card.

The performance gamer is alright.

If you can, get the extreme gamer, it will last you a lot longer. But when these machines are compared, you definitely get what you pay for.
